It follows Dewey Finn, a down-on-his-luck musician who fakes his way into a job as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school—only to discover his students are hiding serious musical talent. What starts as a scheme to win the Battle of the Bands quickly transforms into something more as Dewey pushes his students to pick up instruments, take risks, and break out of their carefully structured lives.
