Projection Designer - Disney’s Frozen

Duluth Playhouse – NorShor Theatre, Duluth, MN
Contract Position

Duluth Playhouse is seeking a Projection Designer for our upcoming production of Disney’s Frozen at the historic NorShor Theatre. We are looking for a creative, collaborative artist to join our design team and bring the magical world of Arendelle to life through dynamic projection design.

Production Info:

• Production: Disney’s Frozen
• Venue: NorShor Theatre (211 E Superior St, Duluth, MN)
• Rehearsals Begin: October 13 2025
• Load In Begins: October 20, 2025
• Performances: November 22 – December 21, 2025

Position Details:

The Projection Designer will work closely with the director, scenic designer, and other members of the artistic team to conceptualize and execute a projection design that supports the storytelling and enhances the world of the play.

Responsibilities include:

• Participating in design meetings beginning as soon as availability allows
• Creating a cohesive projection design in collaboration with the director and design team
• Preparing and delivering all content and technical documentation in accordance with Duluth Playhouse timelines
• Coordinating with the technical team to ensure successful integration and playback of projections
• Installation of equipment and consultation regarding rental equipment if necessary
• Traveling to Duluth for on-site integration, tech rehearsals, and adjustments as needed
  
  

Qualifications:

• Previous experience designing and executing projection designs in a theatrical setting
• Strong knowledge of projection software (QLab, Isadora, Watchout, or similar)
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, professional rehearsal environment
• Availability to attend meetings (virtually or in-person) and to be on-site in Duluth for load-in and technical rehearsals
  
  

Compensation:

• This is a paid design contract. Housing and travel provided for out-of-town artists.
