Job Description:
The Stage Manager is responsible for preparing and overseeing rehearsals, disseminating rehearsal and performance information, ensuring Playhouse policies and procedures are being adhered to, providing structure and management for actors, and calling the show as set by directors. Stage Managers work for the Playhouse and are supervised by the Production Manager.
Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the Stage Management team and delegating responsibilities to the ASM, Technical ASM, operators, crew, and cast.
- Preparing of the rehearsal space
- Keep director and rehearsal timeline to schedule.
- Submit weekly rehearsal schedules to the Production and Artistic Teams.
- Submit daily rehearsal reports to the Production Team.
- Prioritize safety and immediately report any injuries.
- Send an email reminder 24 hours prior to each production meeting including the meeting date, time, location, & agenda.
- Attend and take notes for all production meetings.
- Keep a strong eye on company morale. Report to Artistic Director if it appears an actor is frustrated or struggling.
- Manage all rehearsal props and furniture and ensure their safety and functionality.
- Document all blocking and choreography. Arrange, document, and enact all scenic, furniture, or fly changes.
- Appropriately securing all NorShor areas- every night until performances.
- Stage Managers must keep Playhouse staff informed with any show questions, concerns, or behavior issues.
- In addition to the above outlined duties, the SM is responsible for reading and following the Stage Management Handbook.

Stipend:
This position will be paid by stipend based on the designer or manager’s experience, length of rehearsal schedule, and specifics of responsibilities. Pay is split 50% at the signing of the contract, and %50 on opening night.
The Duluth Playhouse is required to issue a 1099 at the end of the fiscal year for any wages above $600.
