RENT SCHOOL EDITION & AS YOU LIKE IT & LITTLE WOMEN Perform: August 8-19

Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of The Youth Repertory Theater Company!!

Started in 2008, Playhouse Education Director Kate Horvath began the Youth Repertory Theatre Company.  In the last five years, this company has accomplished the goal of teaching all aspects of a show to the students, including stage direction, backstage assistance, technical requirements, costuming, and front of house.  Alternating performances, the cast opposite the performers runs all the technical aspects, creating a complete theatre learning experience for the students.  At the beginning of July, directors Kate Horvath, Liz Larson, and Lee Gundersheimer start working with over 90 students involved in the three productions.

This year’s productions include William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Rent School Edition and Little Women the musical.

William Shakespeare’s As You Like It

An entanglement of love, banishment and hidden identities ensues in one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies, As you Like It.

Rent School Edition

Set in New York City, Rent School Edition is based loosely on Puccini’s La Bohéme.  This rock musical is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today.

Little Women the Musical

Based on Louisa May Alcott's own family experiences (and novel), this story follows the adventures of the March sisters as they grow up in Civil War America. Six Generations have read the story, this one will sing it!
