Duluth Playhouse Accessibility Plan

Policy Statement

The Duluth Playhouse is dedicated to providing full accessibility to all individuals wishing to participate in theatre arts.

Wheelchair & Accessible Seating
Seating charts indicate locations that are reserved for our patrons using wheelchairs. The Box Office will make every attempt to seat one companion in an adjacent seat and any additional guests as close as possible. Courtesy Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis for use inside the Playhouse. Patrons may borrow courtesy wheelchairs from the Patron Desk inside the main entrance.

Restrooms
Fully accessible public restrooms are located on the main level. Restrooms designated for use by people with disabilities are available.

Parking and Directions
Parking is available directly in front of the theatre during evening hours for free. During regular business hours meter parking applies.

Elevator for Volunteers and Actors
Elevators are available backstage and within the building for patron, volunteer and artist convenience and participation.

Assistive Listening System
The Assistive Listening System provides FM transmitters and hand-held receivers that enhance words spoken on stage. This system amplifies the actors and brings the sound directly into patrons' ears. The receivers are coupled with headphones and may be borrowed from the box office.

Audio Enhanced Shows
Audio description translates physical environment and action from the stage into words. Experienced describers are provided. Please inquire with the box office for these specific services.

ASL Interpretation
American Sign Language Interpretation, by certified interpreters, is scheduled for select performances at the Playhouse. Please inquire about the schedule or to request specific services.

Large Print Materials
Large print programs are available in the main office. These materials are provided free of charge. Please ask the house manager for assistance.

High Magnification Glasses
High Magnification Glasses for vision enhancement are available free of charge on a first-come, first serve basis in the main office. Please ask the house manager for assistance.

Service Animals
Service animals, such as guide dogs, are permitted to assist visitors. The nearest green space for walking service animals is across the highway ramp in Bayfront Park.

Preview Performance Opportunity
Working with area community and social service agencies, the Playhouse provides free tickets to all preview performances for those who do not ordinarily have the means or opportunity to attend live theatre. If this is of interest to your community or social service agency, please contact the Box Office.
