General and Mrs. Pinch are "in charge" in a repressive
neighborhood where the houses are all identically grey and where children can't have any fun at all. Then one magical day,
the acrobatic, fun-loving, non-English speaking Araboolies move in and colorful things begin to happen. They paint their house in
bright hues; they dare to be different, and they dare to have fun.
This musical fable shows that it is "okay" to be a "weirdo" and
that the beauty of life is that people who are different are as special as anybody else. Based on the beloved children's book by
Sam Swope, this new musical makes its Midwest debut at the Playhouse.
